How Does Hypnosis Work?
Hypnotism not only can help you to lose weight or gain weight, it can
help you in many other aspects of your life such as kicking bad habits like
smoking, drinking and even is very useful for treating stress, anxiety and
depression. These are just some of the many benefits
of hypnosis. To understand how hypnosis work, you need to know about how
your conscious and subconscious mind work.
In a hypnosis session, you will enter into a state between being awake
and asleep. Contrary to popular belief, you are still in full control of
yourself, you are still aware of the presence of your hypnotist and you can
even choose to get up and walk away anytime.
Everybody act in accordance with what our conscious mind think. Our
conscious mind is the part of the mind which help us think logically and solve
problems analytically. Our conscious mind and subconscious mind actually work
together.
When we are solving a piece of problem or thinking about something, our
subconscious mind reach deep into our memory data bank and take out the stored
information for solving the problem. Our subconscious mind will not only help
us in solving problems, but it also help us in all our automatic functions
such as regulating our heart beat, breathing or even when driving, etc.
The subconscious mind is responsible for processing all information
signals received by our body by our five senses and sometimes even the
intuitive sixth sense. However, the subconscious mind when working with the
conscious mind only obeys the conscious mind. It will never say no to the
conscious mind. Therefore in order to access the subconscious mind, it is best
done when the conscious mind is least active.
The Power Of
Self Hypnosis
Does Hypnosis Really Work?
Many studies have been done to compare the
physical state of a person who is under hypnotism and someone who is not.
Researches found that there is no significant difference found between the two
except that the heart rate and the breathing rate of the former were lower and
that is consistent with being in a more relaxed state which is the objective
of hypnosis, to put the patient in a relaxed state when the conscious mind is
not so active.
EEG
readings also showed a boost in the lower frequency waves, which are actually
associated with dreaming or sleeping and showed a drop in the higher frequency
waves that are seen in people who are fully awake. This goes to show that
subconscious mind takes over conscious mind of the person undergoing hypnosis.
Your conscious mind acts as a filter for messages going into the
subconscious. For example, when a hypnotist tells a person under hypnosis that
he is drinking orange juice, even though the person is drinking plain water,
then the person will feel as if he is really drinking orange juice. This is
because the logical conscious mind is not there to filter the message
logically.
If you have negative beliefs such as it is difficult to gain weight, lose
weight or quit smoking, these are the beliefs of your conscious mind. So
if you are not under hypnosis, when I tell you that it is easy to lose weight, gain
weight or quit smoking, the message will not get into your subconscious
mind because your conscious mind will block the message.
In a nutshell, hypnosis is only a way to quieten down your conscious
mind and deliver positive and beneficial messages to your subconscious mind to
change your bad habits and negative thinking to achieve your goals such as losing
weight, gaining weight, quitting smoking etc.
