Older Smokers Are Likely To Die From Smoking

We all know that smoking is dangerous to our health and will gradually get us incapacitated or even kill us. Most older smokers picked up the smoking habit since they were teenagers and are at a much greater risk of its dangers because they have been smoking for decades right up to their middle age.

This is sheer common sense isn't it? Then why are you still smoking? Do you want to die younger than you should because you are reluctant to give up smoking or you have tried many times to quit smoking, but failed?

 

It is a fact that older smokers tend to be dangerously heavier smokers and are more likely to suffer from smoking related diseases because of this fact.

  • Now that you are getting older, dementia and Alzheimer’s disease are real health risks. Do you know that smokers are twice more likely to develop dementia and Alzheimer's disease in comparison to a non-smoker? Hey, you may not even recognize your family members and love ones!

 

  • If you are 65 years old and above, you are risk of dying from a heart attack is 60% higher than someone who do not smoke. That is if you live long or fit enough to celebrate your 65th birthday.

 

 

  • You want to see the world and savor its beauty in your twilight years, but how can you do that if you are blind. This is because older smokers are 200-300% more likely to develop eye diseases such as cataracts, a leading cause of blindnes

 

  • Smoking lessens a person's life expectancy by 10 to 15 years this means that you are probably eliminating your retirement age to enjoy the fruits of your labor. In other words, you die early!

 

  • Your risk of contracting muscle, joint and bone degenerative diseases such as muscle wasting, osteo-arthritis, neck pain, back pain, rheumatism, spondylosis, joint stenosis etc is so high that it is inevitable if you continue with your smoking habit. Most of these degenarative diseases have no cure and at best, you can only relieve its painful symptoms.

    The other option is to undergo expensive surgeries with no guarantee of a cure. So do you want to live with excructiating pain or worse, be crippled by the diseases and be wheelchair bound for the rest of your life?
