to quit drinking alcohol?

Can you drink alcohol and still not gain weight?
Those of you who know me personally is aware that
I avoid deep fried food, greasy snacks and food with trans fat in order to
stay lean and keep my six pack abs intact. However, you will also know that I
enjoy my alcoholic beverages with music and hanging out with friends in my
favorite clubs.
Now, I'm not talking about drinking like an
alcoholic, I am just talking moderate social drinking here. If you are an
alcoholic or on your way there, you are destroying your health and burning big
holes in your pocket and you need help. Click quit

Inevitably, people do and will continue to
ask me how I can maintain my body weight and lean muscular body when I drink
alcohol regularly. Well, I will show you some tips and tricks to prevent
weight gain from drinking later in this article.
Although some of you may choose to be
complete teetotalers and give up drinking alcohol entirely, I think most of us
can drink in moderation and yet be able stay perfectly healthy and lean if you
know how to. Of course, if you have no problem abstaining from alcohol, then
that will certainly be the best thing for your health and your body.
However, for the rest of us who enjoy
partaking in some social drinking now and then, here are a few tips and tricks
that have helped me to stay lean, while still drinking occasionally. Yes,
alcohol definitely gives you alot of extra empty calories on the days that you
choose to drink. You see, alcohol has 7 calories per gram as compared to 4
calories per gram for carbs and protein and 9 calories per gram for fats.
On nights that I know that is going to
involve some drinking, I make sure that my dinner is made up of only protein
and fiber rich vegetables. This is because since I am going to take consume
lot of empty calories from alcohol later, it makes sense to eat a good
proportion of appetite satisfying protein along with nutrient rich vegetables
so as to control my appetite and give my body the nutrients it needs (alcohol
do destroy certain vitamins and minerals).
Furthermore, I will leave my stomach with no
room for loads of carbohydrate rich foods which are usually served to
accompany drinking. You know something? Carbs + alcohol is the perfect recipe

I know some of you love your alcohol with a
cocktail mix. Now, get this very clear, if you do not want your body to add
layers of ugly fat, do stay away from syrupy, fruity drinks that are loaded
with sugar. This is because that if you do, not only are you getting all the
empty calories from the alcohol but also tons of empty sugar calories.
Big fruity cocktail drinks such as a
margarita or vodka lime can sometimes have as much as 500 to 600 calories per
glass! Can you imagine that! So your best bet is to stick with a clear alcohol
such as a scotch mixed with only ice and water or a squeeze of lime or lemon.
Stay away from tonic water mixers! Most
folks don't know this, but tonic water is loaded with almost as much sugar as
regular soda pop and on the other hand, club soda has no calories at all. Now

If your favorite alcoholic beverage is good
old fashion beer, then you will be better off choosing just 1 or 2 dark beers
rather than 4 or 5 light beers. Sure, dark beers have more calories than light
beers, but dark beers also have more B vitamins and antioxidants than light
beers, so you actually get more nutrition from the dark beer. As long as you
keep it to just 1 or 2 dark beers, you may still stay within 200 to 400
calories.
The next trick is to get a high intensity
full body workout before you start drinking. At least in this way, you have
already revved up your metabolism and have your body processing calories a
little faster. Every little bit helps.
Next, avoid the late night suppers after a
night of drinking! This is where most people who drink get their bigger
waistline and love handles. Instead, just go have some lean protein and
vegetables quickly or a protein shake at home so that you can satisfy your
late night post party hunger with lean protein instead of carbohydrates.
Wine is one of the healthier drink choices
and if you must have a drink, you might as well choose wine so you at least
get a good dose of antioxidants as well. Choose red wine over white wine
because red wine has more antioxidants. Of course, abstaining from alcohol may
be the best choice to stay lean, but we also need to be realistic and know
that social drinking is not something that most people are willing to give up
entirely. At least not for me.

are going to drink alcohol will help you not to put on excessive extra weight.
