What are acai berries and what are its health
benefits?
An acai palm is one of several species of palm
tree in the genus Euterpe cultivated for their fruits and other uses. Global
demand for the acai berries has expanded rapidly in recent years, and the acai
palm is now cultivated for that purpose primarily to feed global demand.
Why is there such a massive demand for this
seemingly humble berry originally found in South America? This is because the
acai berry is heavily marketed as a wonderfood super effective nutritional
health supplement. Companies sell acai berry products in many forms including

being rich in antioxidants and fiber, at the time of writing this article
(March 2009), there are no controlled studies of which I can find in backing
up these claims. Good results from supplementing with acai berries are often
anecdotal spread by mouth testimonials and superb marketing especially with
companies presenting it as the latest and fastest weight loss supplement.

Is Acai Berry Supplement Good For Health?
Yes, acai berries are packed with valuable
nutrients. Can you even imagine that acai berry actually contains the same
amount of protein as with milk, and even higher than that of an egg. That is
why acai berry is also marketed as a muscle building supplement in some
quarters.
Acai berries also contain Phytosterols which
helps in reducing LDL bad cholesterol and improving the immune system. The
Anthocyanin in the berries helps improving blood circulation, preventing blood
