The Real Goals Of Weight Loss

What are the typical goals of people who want to lose weight? Ask anyone who is trying to lose some weight this question and you will hear things like "upcoming wedding invitation" or "bikini season is coming".

When you check back with them in about in about a month's time and see how they are doing with their weight loss efforts, you will usually find out that they will have fallen off the rails and had quit trying to lose weight. Instead they are opting to either skip the wedding invitation, reunion dinner or other social events and either wearing a sensible black one-piece beach wear or never going to the beach again.

Now you see, if you are using a single event as a motivation for losing weight, let me tell you that most of the time, it is not going to work! If it does work, then every overweight person would have had events which they would want to lose weight for, but why haven't they?

The goals of weight loss actually have to go a little deeper and they must be a little more meaningful. And no, I do not mean that you should be trying to make your old high school beauty contests rivals green with envy as the motivation.

Goal 1 - Better Health
When you think of your excess body weight in terms of your general health and well being, it should scare you to death if you are overweight. Are you aware that your excess weight could be killing off your heart, choking out your brain cells, pumelling your liver and smothering your lungs?


Do you know how much harder your pancreas has got to work to continually pump out insulin to your body because you are flooding it with high glycemic foods? And, have you ever stopped to think that your creaking, cracking and aching bones and joints would probably creak, crack and ache a lot less if they did not have so much extra load to carry? Do these thoughts enough to scare you enough to start losing weight?

Losing weight to gain better health should be your top priority. Think about it this way, you would lose weight to look good for people you see once a year at most, but you do not want to lose weight so that you can feel good around the people you see every day? Does that make sense? Obviously not isn't it?

When your health starts to improve when you shed those excess poundages, you will naturally look good and healthy. So looking good comes as a bonus.



Goal 2 - Good Mental Health
How many times have you stood in front of the mirror and ready to tear your hair and burst into tears? Or, how many times have you gone to a shopping mall fashion boutique and tried on clothings only to come home feeling more miserable than you thought possible because you are nowhere near your ideal size? It's depressing, isn't it?

Depression is a real disease that can be exacerbated by extra body weight and one that can be brought on by it as well. Simply put, you can become depressed if you are overweight or if you already depressed, being overweight can make you feel even worse. So click here and start losing weight now!


Goal #3 - Better Sexual Health
You do not have to be thin and skinny to enjoy better sex, however if you are feeling self-conscious about your body, then you may not be relaxed enough to enjoy close intimacy with your love partner.

You are not going to lose all of your extra weight in a matter of a days and you cannot deny yourself or your loved one the pleasure of skin contact. As for the guys, being overweight can be a cause for erectile dysfunction.

Now think about it, making love is an exercise too and it helps to burn calories and thus can help you to lose weight too! Isn't that beautiful? So what are your weight loss goals?
