Dr Hay's Healthy Diet
A food combining diet involves the
separation of proteins from starch. The
method, generally conceived for fixing certain
affections, is recommended
for persons looking for a healthy
weight loss method. The
food combining
diet facilitates digestion, stimulates metabolism,
provides energy and
drives away cravings.
Dr. William Howard Hay introduced food combining
diet in 1911. His basic
premise is that there is one underlying cause for
health problems, this
being the wrong chemical condition in the body.
The wrong
chemical condition is acidity, caused by the manufacture and
accumulation of acid from the products of digestion
and metabolism in
amounts greater than the body can eliminate. This
condition results in a
lowering of the body's vital alkaline reserve, the
depletion of which causes
toxaemia or autointoxication.
In order to facilitate a better digestion, Dr. Hay
classified aliments in
three groups:
a) Alkali forming foods such as fruits and
vegetables and even acid
tasting fruits such as lemons yield alkaline salts
in the body, so it is
included on the list.
b)
Concentrated proteins such as meat, game, fish, eggs or cheese - these
foods being acid forming in the body.
c)
Concentrated carbohydrates or starch foods, which are acid forming,
including grains, bread as well as all foods
containing flour, all sugars
and foods containing sugars (sucrose), but not the
naturally occurring
sugars found in fruit.
Dr. Hay's theory is
based on the fact that, although protein and starch
foods are acid forming in their end products in the body,
they need different
conditions for digestion and should never be
combined at the same meal.
The food combining diet
for health:-
* Separate starch and sweets from proteins and acid
fruits when eating
* Vegetables, green leaves and fruits (both acids
and sweet) should be the
base of a diet when combined correctly
* Proteins, starches and fat are aloud in small
quantities
* Eat only whole grains and unprocessed starches,
eliminate from your
diet
refined aliments.
*
Leave at least 4 hours between meals.
* Don't combine milk with any kind of food.
Don't make incompatible matches if you want to
reach your weight loss
goal.
